Welcome! My name is Kristina Shamp, LCSW. I'm passionate about helping individuals overcome challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. Throughout the years of working as a therapist, I have primarily focused on substance use concerns. I have also worked with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, negative thought patterns, relationship difficulties, communication challenges, and issues related to self-esteem and self-worth. My goal for every client is to feel supported and understood - especially during times when they may feel alone.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and hold a Master's in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College.
As an LCSW, a graduate of Ackerman Institute for the Family, and a substance abuse counselor with years of experience working with diverse populations and in different venues (i.e., foster care and adoption, domestic violence, education, substance abuse, etc.), I understand "resistance" is a necessary part of the therapeutic process and know client trust develops through ongoing interactions between the individual and therapist.
Life can be overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate it alone. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. As a therapist and a longtime educator, I bring warmth, curiosity, and decades of experience helping people through anxiety, grief, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, together, we'll build on your strengths and find practical strategies to help you move forward.
For 18 years I have worked alongside adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and the transitions that turn life upside down. I believe therapy works best when you can show up exactly as you are. In our sessions, we build on your strengths, move at a pace that feels right for you, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. Whether you are navigating a specific challenge or simply looking for a space to better understand yourself, I would love to connect.
