I am a clinical social worker in private practice in NYC and also work as a supervising clinician at a university. I received my Master’s degree at New York University. I completed post-graduate training with the Women’s Therapy Centre. My practice is informed by incorporating current society and the challenges it brings for individuals to function at their best. I consider an individual's past and current context to best help people face their concerns.
Therapy can be healing, communicative, and an avenue to self-discovery. It can be a way to access social skills, self-expression, and self-awareness.. Whatever the goal, utilizing the power of music as a vehicle towards these processes can be very effective. (Some of my goals and techniques are featured in a Psychology Today article on 2/18/21 "Increase Coping and Resilience by Writing a Song").
I love counseling – both giving and receiving. For over 40 years, I have helped adoptive families utilizing my law and counseling degrees.
The counseling aspect spans a wide range of populations, including tweens, seniors, singles, couples, and multiple family members.
I met my wife at graduate school while working on my Master’s in Social Work, and we have since adopted three children.
I have been in private practice for 23 years and am passionate about my work. Individuals, couples and families often come to me during life transitions hoping to form new and healthier patterns. They often describe feeling stuck, unmotivated, anxious or depressed and revert to unsuccessful habits. Parents often feel drained and overwhelmed. They want tools to reduce conflict and to feel closer to there children pr partner. I will create a space where we can safely explore your thoughts, overcome obstacles and build a more fulfilling life. My work with you will be interactive, compassionate and goal oriented. Whether you have come here to seek relief from pain, guidance with a partner, help building self esteem, or just want more meaning in your life, therapy can help. I commend you on taking this step to emotional health.
