In my twenties, I studied philosophy and English literature. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years in magazine journalism.
I worked for 6 years in hospice care, first as an interfaith chaplain and then as a bereavement counselor.
I enjoy nature and the arts: music, poetry and painting. I practice Tibetan Buddhism.
I've been married for 30 years and have two adult daughters.
I incorporate emerging evidence-based treatments that support neuro-plasticity and expanded awareness.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be heard and seen. I believe that mental health is often overlooked and a lower priority when it comes to health and I believe it is important to challenge that belief and bring attention to what is affecting us mentally and emotionally. Throughout my experience I have worked with a range of clients, from children to older adults, working with clients struggling with depression and anxiety to OCD and Bipolar Disorder. Everyone should have the opportunity to get the help they need and I hope that working together we will be able to identify and work towards building a life that is best for you!

I graduated from State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After pursuing a career in Human Resources and Professional Development in the private sector, I decided to return to school to continue my education in order to help others. I attended and graduated from Columbia University with a Master degree in Social Work. I bring a wealth of lived, professional, and educational experience to her practice.

Have you ever wondered why your life doesn't feel like you thought it would? Like you want it to? Maybe you've lost touch with you are, or maybe you never had the opportunity to figure it out. You're sick of feeling anxious, unfulfilled, and on autopilot in your life and relationships and you want it to change. To be more enjoyable. More aligned. I get it. I am here to help you navigate your current struggles with compassion and without judgment to hopefully get you to where you're feeling good, and feeling like your authentic self. As a Cuban-born, Afro-Latina immigrant therapist, I bring cultural awareness and an understanding of the complexities of identity, belonging, relationships, and life transitions. One of my strengths is creating a nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your experiences with curiosity, creativity, and care.
My guiding mantra is: My only way is through love. If this resonates with you, I would be honored to accompany you on your healing journey.
One of the reasons I became a therapist is because I deeply believe in people’s ability to grow, heal, and write their story no matter their circumstances. I truly care about people and the courage it takes to share their experiences. I hold a deep respect for the dignity and worth of every person, and I value authenticity, compassion, and practical strategies that bring light and renewal into everyday life.
I'm passionate about empowering others to know their true worth, to face their past, their fears or anything else that may be keeping them from living out their God given gifts and purpose. I have had the honor of serving as a counselor in the Capital Region of New York for almost 15 years and 6 years ago opened my own private practice.
