As my client, I try to meet you where you are at by learning your story, your challenges, your strengths and challenges as I find ways to holistically support you.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over five years of experience, I I draw from an abolitionist framework and am queer-affirming, promote body and fat positivity, embrace sex positivity, and am a lifelong learner of anti-racism. My passion lies in supporting individuals navigating challenges such as self-esteem and body image, disordered eating and the rejection of diet culture, life transitions and women’s issues, as well as anxiety and trauma. After years of unlearning diet culture myself, I am especially interested in disrupting the cycle that negatively impacts folks on a daily basis.
I am a licensed clinical social worker who obtained a Masters degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago. My thirty some years of experience includes a residential treatment center for children and adolescents as well as private practice. My primary area of service is focused now on adults.
Welcome to Family Forward Therapy, a Texas-based group practice offering virtual therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our team includes therapists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and areas of focus so we can help connect you with someone who fits your individual needs.
I’m Roberto Martinez, therapist and founder of Family Forward Therapy. I’ve built a team of clinicians with different backgrounds, specialties, and experiences so that clients have more options when looking for the right therapist.
We work with concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship and family challenges, parenting stress, grief, life transitions, and more. Our clinicians also bring experience working with populations and concerns that can sometimes be harder to find specialized support for.
When you schedule through this profile, you are connecting with Family Forward Therapy rather than only one individual therapist. After you book, we may contact you briefly to learn what type of therapy you’re seeking and what you would like help with. Based on your needs, preferences, availability, and insurance, your appointment may be reassigned to another therapist within our practice who may be a better fit.
Our goal is simple: help you get connected with the right therapist without having to spend weeks searching.
Hi! My name is Nura Shadid, (Noo-rah, she/her). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults who need support in managing anxiety, depression as well as overcoming relationship difficulties, identity and self-esteem concerns, and major life transitions. I also have a focus in Arab-American, Muslim and first generation mental health. I am a first generation Palestinian-Muslim, and that experience has shaped my view and understanding of the systems and structures that oppress the most marginalized of us. As an intersectional feminist, I am working towards unlearning the teachings of the patriarchy and white supremacy, and assisting people in identifying how these impact our daily lives.
I recieved my Bachelors of Social Work in 2013 from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, and went on to complete my Master of Social Work at Loyola in 2014. I have since worked in different capacities in mental health, ranging from residential programming, crisis intervention and eventually leading me to settle in outpatient.
I believe in a collaborative therapeutic relationship and primarily work with adults. My practice is dedicated to trauma-informed and wellness-based approaches based on mindful observation of internal and external experiences. I promote a person-centered relationship with those interested in identifying and pursuing their values/goals. I have experience in working with persons who have difficulty managing their behavior when experiencing intense emotions as well as those who have experienced trauma (including intimate partner violence), substance abuse, and issues associated with brain injury or learning disability.
Hi, I’m E.C. You might want clarity, balance, and a way to turn insight into real-world change .... I specialize in creating a judgmental space that allows for both professional development & general life as well as mental health questions to unfold. — respectful of your identity, personal cultural context and lived experiences, while supporting you in moving from contemplating goals to moving them forward.
