Top therapists in New York accepting new patients
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris.
I am licensed in New York with 10 years of professional work experience. I have helped clients with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflict, motivation, self esteem, and confidence. I also have experience working with coping with life changes. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started.
Vulnerability to hurt, disappointment, sadness, and grief are a normal part of the human experience. In trying to make sense of these struggles, we often turn them inward, forming painful beliefs about ourselves and the world that can shape our relationships and sense of self.
I believe that a genuine, authentic therapist-client relationship has the power to heal. I'm not looking to "fix" my clients, but instead become a fellow traveler in their therapeutic process. We will work collaboratively to identify and remove both conscious and unconscious barriers that may be keeping you stuck, moving you toward a life that is meaningful, authentic, and purposeful. This may involve offering new ideas and techniques, or identifying and shifting unhelpful patterns, transforming them into more adaptive behaviors. In this safe, judgment-free space, you can reconnect to who you truly are.
I completed my graduate studies at New York University's Silver School of Social Work and have worked in both private practice where I served adult individuals and couples, and community-based settings, focused on protecting families and strengthening secure attachments. These experiences have shaped my deep respect for the ways people adapt to early relational environments—and how those adaptations can later create both resilience and pain.
I work with individuals facing depression, anxiety, OCD, relational challenges, attachment wounds, family of origin issues, patterns rooted in early family dynamics and the intergenerational effects of trauma on parenting and relationships, including narcissistic abuse.
I hold a special interest in those impacted by the issues faced by adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families.
I have my BA in sociology from Haverford College and my Masters in Social work from NYU. I have my LCSW and have a background in doing home visits with families in Brooklyn struggling with mental health and substance use. I have four years post graduate training in Gestalt Therapy at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy and I have also studied Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy at the Center for Somatic Studies. I am a trained yoga teacher and have been practicing meditation for 10+ years.
I hold compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive space where you will feel welcome and safe to explore and access deeply-held feelings, release emotional blockages, experience shifts, and gain clarity. I provide warmth as well as direct and honest insight. I have nearly three decades of experience working in various healing and teaching capacities with highly diverse populations of adults, children and families. My approach to therapy is relational and interactive, creating a comforting environment where you feel seen, heard, and develop tools to guide your progress and growth.
Starting therapy often means saying things out loud for the first time. You don't have to have the words ready — that's part of the work.
I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions, including the particular strain of rebuilding a life in a new country, holding a family across borders, or carrying a loss that happened somewhere else.
Much of my career has been spent with people on the worst day of their lives. I responded to the 1999 Vargas disaster in Venezuela, and worked with Project Liberty in New York after 9/11, training paramedics, firefighters, and highway police along the way. You do not have to protect me from what happened to you.
I trained first as a psychologist in Venezuela and completed my master's in mental health counseling in New York. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Connecticut, a National Certified Counselor, and EMDR-certified.
Sessions are available in English and Spanish. Not translated — I work in both.
If you're deciding whether to reach out, you don't need to be certain. You only need to be curious enough to start.
I am a dedicated licensed clinical social worker, with over 15 years experience. I am focused on helping individuals lead a happier, healthier life. I take a warm, caring approach with clients and individualize care to each unique client.
Since the beginning of my career as a mental health professional, I have practiced with one main idea at the core of all my work: healing is not linear. Whether this is your first time searching for new ways to heal, or you’re an experienced client of psychotherapy, I first and foremost hope you’ll allow yourself to feel gratitude for all the work you’ve done to get to where you are right now in your life’s journey.
